Mount Holyoke College: South Hadley, MA

"Yoga, Moving Beyond the Body": During this 3-day, intensive seminar Dr. Sharma led workshops on yoga for the mind, body, and spirit. The event opened with a celebratory Dandia Dance Night attended by over 100 people. The sessions included a Nature Cure health talk, and sessions on devotional practice, stretching and excercises, and ethical yoga. The conference was organized and sponsored by Mount Holyoke College's Hindu student group known as SHRI, Sisters of Hinduism Reaching Inward. The experience was truly one where all were able to take some time to reach within. To learn more about this conference, visit www.mtholyoke.edu/org/shri/yoga.html and learn more about SHRI.

Dr. Sharma held a 3-hour workshop teaching simple yoga asanas (postures), meditation, healthy diet and eating guidelines, as well as instructed the group on the basics of hydro and solar therapy as a method of healing right from the home! This workshop was made possible by the generousity of the host and hostess Asha & Adish Jain.

July, 2007

Vishwa Hindu Parishad Introductory Talk & Health Workshop, Dracut, MA: Dr. Sharma produced stimulating discussion about the connections between ancient Hindu practices and hygienic practices which can guide our health even today. Through engaging stories and anecdotes, Dr. Sharma charmed and inspired the audience of listeners to invest in their health. Their appreciation led them to organize a 3 hour workshop scheduled for the very next morning! The workshop was a great success and there are plans for many more such workshops to be held in the area. Keep a look out for updates. The workshop was made possible by our kind hosts Kusum & Subhash Agarwal and by the generosity of patrons Mr. & Mrs. Hingorani who offered the Sadhu Wasvani center for our use.
